RELIGION

We have so far discussed the great desire of the wise and learned people of the Vedic times who got the answers for certain basic questions which motivated them to take it forward for human civilization.

Single Source wisdom

The spiritual and cosmic wisdom and  philosophies that found answers for these very deep questions through the seekers of that  times is called 'Vedas' meaning Divine knowledge; While this was formally structured and institutionalised in India it's origin was much earlier.

it is believed that this group of intellectual humans -whom we call as seekers of the vedic times who are credited with the civilization of the human race- were once living along with the other seekers in one place in what is called as today's Artic area and they branched off to other parts of globe - some moving into India,some moving to Europe,some moving to Egypt .

While the progenies of the vedic sages who moved into India continued with the same verses and nomenclature of the vedic religion- 'sanathana dharma' - eternal cosmic order, the progenies of the vedic sages who moved into other parts of the globe adapted and developed religions that will suit them locally.

But all of them inherited the same Vedic wisdom. That is why we find great amount of similarities between  Egyptian and Zoroastrian spiritual philosophy on one side and the Vedic spiritual philosophy on the other side.In fact we find the similarity in the core philosophy of the Abrahamic religions iwith hindu religion as well.

Need for Religion

Now all of them realised that for an disclipined and peaceful life social order and human discipline is a must. But the humans are bestowed with one terrific weapon of mind/intelligence and if controlled it will take them to  great heights and if it decides to be dirty  it can simply ruin him.They also realized that mind can only be motivated and not controlled.

When they are talking of evolution it is not just one person but one specie,which means the entire mankind, which to cooperate for this.

With powerful but fickle mind that too of millions of human beings this is not a child's play.

Therefore the seekers started figuring out solutions whereby mind evolution will be possible without resentment or upheaval. One of the things they realized was that the abstract truths are very profound and beyond comprehension of common man.if presented as it is, either it will go over his head or he will simply disbelieve.

Therefore they developed a system of gradual discipline and ascension maintaining social order and ensuring control and development of mind through various motivational systems.With this the Science of religion was born.

Components of Religions

Every Religion has three components- the philosophy,the mythology and the rituals.

The philosophy is the core  spiritual belief of the religion – the abstract and profound truth– meant for people who want to realize the truths through intelligence and knowledge; the mythology is the stories woven around the philosophy for mass reach - meant for those who wants to catch the truths through mind and heart and the rituals for those who wants to be happy that they are in tune with god by just following certain procederal  discipline.

Each religion generally have their own mythology and rituals- which are the distinguishing factors making  one religion different from another .

But surprisingly, perhaps naturally,since all of them owing its origin to the Vedic wisdom ,they did not  vary much on the core philosophy.

Reason for Various Religions

Now a question logically arises when the core philosophy is almost the same why different religions should have come up.

The reason for the birth of various religions instead of one universal religion is that in those days they were separated by huge distances with huge restrictions on ability to move ad communicate to far off places. Also the local factors like living conditions,weather,the available food chain,the available other resources made it a necessary for birth of different religions.

Even within the same geographical areas new religions had to spring up because as the religions grow old the philosophy is mostly forgotten or pushed to the back burner and the myths and rituals take over which lead to the intellectuals of the new generation to question the relevant exiting religious practices, and not being able to get satisfactory answers they had to set up a new order/religion.The birth of Buddism,Jainism,Chritianity,Islam are all due to this factor only.But even if a new religion springs up the basic philosophies are unable to be different from the Vedic spiritual philosophy-the sanatana darma-since per se it is the universal religion.

Each of this religion developed their own code of conducts,rituals,  the do's and don'ts and also their own mythology to reinforce their core spiritual philosophy.But at the level of core philosophy they were saying the same.

Different Religion But One Core Philosophy

Let us see for example Islam says Allah is the only God and he is really great,all powerful and he is everywhere(in fact nearer than your hand itself)  and he is formless and to give any form is wrong.This is what Hinduism is also saying , that the 'parabrahmam' the supreme god head is formless (nirguna); he is omniscient;omnipotent and omnipresent and he resides in your heart.,

In christianity the concept the trio of Spirit,Father and Son - the trinity- which is the Consciousness,energy and all pervasiveness the first trinity and creation,sustenance and disintegration -the second trinity of the Hinduism

Actually it is wrong to claim vedas belong to any one religion.Vedas are the cosmic divine wisdom which is universal, revealed much much before the birth of religion,Therefore let us be clear Vedas are pan religion and they are the fundamental cosmic wisdom.

As spiritual philosophy all of them

  1. agreed on god one head;
  2. all of them agreed on creation by god by self sacrifice(that is this universe is made up of his own body only);
  3. all of them agreed that godliness is in man (that is the god principle is in man himself);
  4. all of them agreed it is the mind that matters and for emancipation at material as well as philosophical level
  5. mind is the most important instrument;,
  6. all of them agreed that the god head can be realized;
  7. all of them agreed that the god had revealed the wisdom directly to them through intuition;
  8. all of them agreed that god is supreme bliss and bliss only;
  9. all of them agreed that god has descended as man and man has ascended as godman several times;
  10. all of them agreed that misdeeds are sins and good deeds are virtues;
  11. all of them agreed that through vibratory powers-mantras, verses,japas,prayers,the powers of god can be invoked and made use of ;
  12. all of them also agreed that gods power can be invoked and consecrated;
  13. all of them agreed that the paradise of bliss is lost due to human ego and the the lost paradise can be positively regained;
  14. and above all every human being can be redeemed .

From  he above it can be seen that actually all the religions are saying the same thing in different languages and in substance there is no difference at all .Then what is this conflict all about in the name of religion .

The other important point to note very specifically is that all religions agree on the power of words and it’s vibrations and for emancipation  of the human beings and the mind upliftment it is a divine and mega tool.

Though as mentioned earlier these divine words are called by different names, mantras ,verses etc they all mean just one thing that these are all revealed words  capable of redeeming even the worst sinners.

It is this aspect of the religion that is more important to us to redeem our sins-no matter to which religion we are outwardly belonging to,because ultimately we all belong to one religion of the universal god.
